Mini-vaca: Mt. Hood

Ahmma and Dumpa got into town, and we met them at Mt. Hood.  After celebrating forty years of marriage, they decided to treat themselves to a couple nights at the beautiful and historic Timberline Lodge.  So, we decided to crash their anniversary weekend and got a room at the Huckleberry Inn at Government Camp in order to spend a couple days with them.   We hung out in Ahmma and Dumpa's amazing room, had lunch at the Lodge's amazing, all-you-can-eat brunch buffet, played in the snow, had huckleberry pancakes for breakfast at our Inn, and played in the snow some more.  But the highlite of our mini-vaca was the brief soak in the Lodge's jaccuzzi

Just another walk in the park

Tessa's sleep patterns are taking their tole.  It seems like thirty minutes into every nap she wakes up screaming. We've experimented with letting her cry, but that does nothing but make her work up a sweat. We've also rocked, bounced, and soothed her back to sleep, and then as soon as we lay her down in her crib she screams.  So, one afternoon we thought we would drive to Champoeg Park and take a walk, hoping that the car ride over would lull her to sleep, and then we could peacefully enjoy the outdoors walking along the river.  It sorta backfired on us, and she screamed the entire car ride and about ten minutes into our peaceful walk.  But it was an overall success, as we got to see a beautiful sunset and get some more fresh air.

 First smiles on film.

There's that tongue again.

One month with Tess

The day after Christmas marked one month with Tessa. We took her into a Kaiser clinic to have her weighed, and she tipped the scales at 9 lbs, 5 oz. Who does she resemble?  Even though she's filled out a lot since birth, I still have a hard time answering that question. Some days it's McKinley, other expressions it's Piper, and sometimes she looks exactly like one of Benji's baby pictures I have in a photo album.  I think she's just pretty darn cute and has the most perfectly-shaped, round head. She often has her mouth slightly open with her tongue sticking out. She still screams bloody murder every time I change her diaper, and loves her baths. Her sisters adore her, especially Piper.  Her wake time stretches are getting longer in between feedings, but still falls asleep while nursing.  She has some mongolian spots on her booty, and recently broke out with baby acne on her face.  Oh, and she still occasionally goes cross-eyed.
