With
a couple one more birthday just around the corner, I figured it was time to finally divulge how Ben & I celebrated turning 40. The kids and I pulled off the
biggest surprise for Dadda's birthday! It all started the night before where we blew up 40 balloons and threw them in his truck for his ride to work. Then we coordinated with his bike partner to surprise him during their pitstop for lunch, which was at a quaint little restaurant on the Portland Waterfront. It was glorious to see the utter shock on his face when we showed up (with fried salmon) while he was just about to eat lunch! In our twelve years of marriage, I've never seen him so surprised! Then we followed him to the Waterfront Park where his partner set up a mini bicycle course for the girls to enjoy. Such a fun and memorable morning! After work we surprised him again when we gifted him a fat bike. He never saw it coming! Later that evening we enjoyed Storr's barbecue for dinner and a homemade peanut butter mousse pie for dessert.
My birthday was also unforgettable, as Benji stayed home from work and took us to breakfast at the WildWood Cafe in McMinnville. We ended up at Urgent Care to treat Tessa's suspected ear infection, but on the way home we took some family photos in front of a sunflower field (one of my birthday requests). After my cross country practice, we enjoyed the best chicken pot pie ever, as well as some Costco cake (my other birthday request). Benji and the kids brought me tears with a surprise of their own: our first
professional family photos as a family of six!

Daddy loved his fat bike, but ended up trading it in for something more practical!
