Spring is here!

Warmer weather, sun hats & sun dresses, red tulips, and backyard play dates means spring is here.  Even Tessa was outside for an extended period of time.

Teeter-tottering with Airy.

Tessa is getting more comfortable sleeping on her tummy.

4.5 months with Tessa

I kinda dropped the ball with Tessa's four-month update and photoshoot.  Infact, I didn't document a single thing in her baby calendar for the month of March.  She did, however, conquer one major milestone worth noting; she rolled over from her tummy to her back and also from her back to her tummy.  A couple naps and even once in the middle of the night, I had to rescue her from rolling over.  At the end of March she finally laughed for me.  I had to blow raspberries on her belly button, but she gave me a sweet, little giggle.  For her routine well-check this month, she measured twenty-six inches (95%) and weighed thirteen pounds & thirteen ounces (38%).  What I thought was baby acne around her neck, turned out to be irritation from her constant drooling.  And since her appointment her rash has spread a little. Dr. Leslie recommended some Aquaphor ointment, so hopefully we'll see an improvement soon.  A couple other things worth mentioning: she can grab a hold of toys when you put them in front of her, she likes to suck on frozen teethers, and she's still as bald as the day she was born.

The Open is Closed

I recently competed in the largest fitness competition in the world: the CrossFit Open.  The Open consisted of five workouts with a different workout each week.  For the first four workouts, we were given a time limit and tried to complete as many repetitions as possible within that time limit.  But the last workout was task completion, meaning we were required to complete a certain number of repetitions no matter how long it would take.  The two movements in the last workout were thrusters and burpees over the bar, and the repetition scheme looked like this: 21-18-15-12-9-6-3, starting with thrusters. After 21 thrusters, 21 burpees, then 18 thrusters, then 18 burpees, and so on & so forth.  For my last workout, Benji and the girls accompanied me to the gym to cheer me on.

Piper warms up on the rower machine.

McKinley, on the other hand, warms up with me.  Here we're doing a long squat.

Next we do some pass-throughs with the pvc pipe.

Then it's band shoulders.

And here we go.

After the 21 thrusters, I was already wasted and wanting to quit.

Burpees over the bar.

Afterwards, Benji said that McKinley and Piper were mimicking my every move with their pvc pipe.

Nice ups!

Piper does burpees lying next to the bar, instead of over the bar.

Hardest 24 minutes and 17 seconds ever!

Hiatus

My camera and I were recently reunited after a minor stint in the repair shop.  Thank goodness she's back in working order because these girls are constantly making me laugh and melting my heart.

Momma tore a nasty hole in her hand after some C2B at CrossFit this week.  Hopefully it'll be healed enough to perform 14.5 on Sunday.

Piper finds the craziest places to take her naps!

This and That

Just a random assortment of pictures from the past month.  The two photos that sum up the kind of month we've been having are the ones of Piper passed out on the floor….Ben and I are so sleep-deprived that the top of the stairs seems like a pretty reasonable place to catch up on some zzzz's.

McKinley is always pretending she's Doc McStuffins.

The girls picked out their own sweet treats on our Valentines Day date to Rose's Bakery.

A selfie with my tiny t-bird.

Her expression cracks me up!  I also adore this rainbow sweater, which use to be McKinley's.

Jelly face!

That frown is too cute!

Piper was supposed to be in her bedroom for quiet/nap time.  Though she rarely takes naps anymore.

When she tries to sneak out of her room, she usually comes downstairs.  I guess she didn't have the energy to get that far.

Tessa is already entranced by Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
