Five Months with Tessa

I can't believe Tessa is less than a month away from her half birthday. It truly doesn't feel like five months have passed since she was born. Nothing significantly new to share.  I keep checking for teeth, but none as of yet. She has gotten more comfortable being on her tummy and likes to play with toys in reach. She developed a yeast infection underneath her neck, which spread to her upper chest and back, but after her pediatrician prescribed some topical cream, it cleared up within a week.  She nurses six times a day with her first feeding anywhere between 6 and 7 am.  We recently moved up her last feeding to 8:15-8:30 pm, instead of putting her down at 8 & waking her up at 9 to nurse, which gives her four naps throughout the day. I can't wait to start giving her solid foods. Infact, we're waiting for my mother to get into town before the inaugural feeding. I'm thinking bananas or avocados. She wears size 2 diapers, 3-6 month clothing, and tipped the scales at 14 pounds, 10 ounces.

Kid Fit

McKinley just wrapped up her first month of CrossFit for Kids.  And she loves it!   So much, that we're signing her up for the month of May.  The class is taught by Maria Acosta, and the kids meet every Tuesday & Thursday.  Maria is an elementary school gym teacher, a CrossFit coach/trainer, and is super amazing with the kids. The format of the class is identical to what us parents do during a CrossFit session.  They begin with a warm-up, learn a new skill and/or strength, and then complete a WOD (workout of the day) centered around the new skill.  If there's extra time, they play a game or read books to each other.  I love watching McKinley perform the same exercises and stretches I am accustomed to doing at CrossFit.

Lunge stretch.

Butterfly stretch.

Learning to jump rope.

Front squat.

Cheering out.

"CrossFit Kids is Awesome!"

High-knee skip.

Box jumps.

Push press.

Quiet time at the end of class.

Junk yard dog.

Hey Tess!

Flamingo stretch.

Practicing their air squats.

More push press.

Hey Piper!

Abmat sit-ups.

Addie loves holding Tess after class.

So does her sister Jocey.

Tulip Fields Forever

Yesterday we visited one of our favorite spring time attractions: The Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm.  We nearly avoided the rain, but still had to layer up for the wind.   The endless fields of flowers, as always, didn't disappoint.  However, the coolest thing we saw was the pink John Deere tractor hanging out in the middle of the tulip fields.  It made me think of Boppy.
