Our homeschool co-op wrapped up three terms of teaching with an end-of-the-year celebration, which included presentations and a medieval-themed party. Everyone was encouraged to dress up in attire associated with the Middle Ages. Piper immediately wanted to be Joan of Arc, so we fashioned a tunic out of some scrap fabric and found a printable fleur de Lis template for her shield and tunic. She also wrote a paper titled, "Thankful for Arbores," and presented (read) it to her peers. Landon also wanted to be a knight, so I made him a sword out of cardboard, duck tape, and tin foil. Tessa decided to be a minstrel, after reading Adam of the Road. She learned how to play London Bridge on her harp and ended up joining with her neighbors to perform for all of the primary and jr. high classes. McKinley transformed into Empress Theodora, which was an optional part of her History Heros Project. For the past month, she researched, outlined, and wrote about a hero of her choosing from the Middle Ages. Her costume and crown were so fun to put together, but her 7-paragraph paper stole the show! I'm so proud of my girls for presenting with confidence, poise, and courage.
