The Chronicles of Kindergarten

We're four units away from finishing kindergarten.  McKinley can neatly print all of her capital and lowercase letters, add and subtract, recite twenty-two bible truths, and read short chapter books.  She gets real excited, though, about the fun hands-on activities and field trips.  Below are some pictures
of the fun stuff.
Making life-size portraits in the spirit of Psalm 139:14.

Painting zebra masks out of paper plates and popsicle sticks.

Zebras remind McKinley that she can't hide anything from God.

Modeling Momma's mask.

Releasing 1000 ladybugs in our rose garden.

Sorting rocks.

The play dough volcano is about to erupt.

Coolness!

The Rice Rock and Mineral Museum.

The chrysalises are hatching.

New painted lady butterflies.

Time to release the painted ladies.

Can you see the butterfly?

AWANA Awards Night

Another year of AWANA's is officially over.  Piper was a Cubbie and completed her Appleseed Handbook, earning her the fancy, green ribbon on her vest.   She acted super shy & scared during her awards ceremony, but quickly regained her spunk while eating cookies after her ceremony.  They sang the Cubbie's song, Hosanna and Jesus Loves Me, while performing the hand motions along with the words.  Next year, Piper will be in the Cubbies program again, but working on the Honeycomb Handbook.
McKinley was a Sparky and completed her HangGlider Handbook, along with a review and extra credit book.  Out of everyone in the Sparks program, she recited the most verses....108 verses, which included the books of the Bible and Psalm 23.  The Director of AWANA joked that she would be "running the show" next year.   We are so proud of our girls!

Mother's Day

I will never forget this Mother's Day.  My girls spoiled me with their heartfelt cards and homemade trifle.  But then Dadda surprised me with a gesture so sweet and thoughtful, I thought I had died and gone to fast food heaven.  After church we all ate lunch at Taco Bell....even Dadda!

Dadda snapped these pictures of us after lunch.

A shout-out to Gramma for the girls' cute, new summer dresses!

My dress is from the Gap, and even though Benji said I reminded him of a Yankee's ball player, it's probably the most comfortable, not to mention cute, dress I've ever worn.
